Merry Christmas 2008

from the Sudbury Rocks!! Running Club

A Rocks!! Christmas Tale

Twas the night before Christmas

And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a mouse…

Well, one soul was churning
Yes, A Rock!! was just burning

To go for one last run
Wouldn’t that be fun

Santa can wait
Heck, I won’t be late

Around the streets he ran
You’d think he had a plan

But running he’s good at
Directions he’s bad at

Now the Rock!! is hopelessly lost
At least a marriage this may cost

He’ll never get back
She’ll give him the sack

He’s losing hope
He’s starting to mope

Then there’s a sound
Of bells all around

What’s this I hear?
It’s Santa and his reindeer

To home they hurried
Down the chimney they scurried

And to bed the Rock!! went
He was happily spent

Then Santa pulled from his sack
A Garmin GPS to get the Rock!! back

He placed it under the tree
And yelled ‘A Merry Christmas to yee’

And not a creature was stirring
Even the Rock!! was purring

Until Christmas Day
When he logged another 10k

Merry Christmas to All
And to All a good night!

Run Club Update

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying this super chilly Holiday season! As we're getting colder and colder temperatures, here's a quick reminder of what-to-wear...

Dress in Layers! We normally recommend three layers: 1) A base layer - such as the Running Room Baselayer 2) A thermal layer - something to add warmth to your outfit, the RR midweight long-sleeve is perfect for the colder days. In warmer days, even a t-shirt can do the trick 3) A shell - the RR reflective jacket and pant combo is a tried and true classic!
Everything should be moisture wicking. Winter is not the best time to pull out your favourite 20-year-old cotton t-shirt! All the moisture and sweat will freeze very quickly in these colder temperatures so make sure you're wearing a good technical fabric.
Listen to your mother! Always wear a toque and mitts! As you warm up, you might find that you don't need them, but carrying a pair of mitts is much better than freezing fingers.
If you are thinking of running or walking in the Hypothermic Half Marathon - sign up today! We are selling out very quickly in this capped event, so make sure you are in on time! Don't forget, this year, every participant receives a FREE toque and glove gift set with registration. Click here for more details --> http://www.events.runningroom.com/site/?raceId=4096 .

Also, for those faithful to the Asics Gel-Kayano, we have just received the new update, the Gel-Kayano 15! The stability and cushioning that you have come to expect from the Kayano with a new and improved anatomical fitting system that gives it a great, get-up-and-go feel.

Just a quick reminder that our practice session this week will be on Sunday morning at 8:30 am. While we will not be having a Wednesday night practice this week (as it falls on Christmas Eve), please feel free to drop by the store during the day - we will be open until 4pm :)

Happy Holidays!
From your Running Room crew
