from the Festival website:

Welcome to the second annual Race, Run or Walk Timmins Golden Trails Festival. This family affair has become a major event in our community. Our motto Come run or walk with us… has attracted competitive runners, recreational joggers, walkers, families and seniors from across our region. They come to fulfill a personal goal or dream. Proceeds from the Festival are donated to the Timmins Regional Athletics and Soccer Complex.

The Organizers put on a 2K, 5K, and a half marathon Run/Walk plus relays in the half.

This year Karen Beaulieu from Sudbury was our only Rock!! and local representative. Karen is a native of Timmins. Results here.

Silvers for Ehrhardt

Posted By SUDBURY STAR STAFF
Posted Wednesday August 20, 2008

Track North athlete Caroline Ehrhardt represented Team Ontario at the Canadian Legion's national track and field championships in Sherbrooke, Que. from Aug. 16-17 and earned two silver medals.

In the long jump event, the 16-year-old jumped a personal best of 5.72-metres to win. The Espanola native then leaped 12.29-metres in the triple jump to garner the silver.

Although her season is over for 2008, Ehrhardt is going to be competing in bigger events in 2009.

She will be representing Canada at the Pan Am Junior Track and Field Championships and as well in the Junior World Track and Field Meet in Italy during 2009.

Ehrhardt also won silver medals at the Canadian Junior nationals in late July.

August 18, 2008 Mountain Bike Tour

Capreol ON: About 50 overall participants competed in events including the Kids 1k, 5k, 8k, 16k and 24k. All course except the 1k were biked on the Capreol Cross Country Ski Trails. As of this date no electronic results are available. That's also the case with every one of Fitness Challenge events this year. It's a bit unfortunate as I'm sure participants would like the opportunity to review personal results plus those of competitors.

JOIN TEAM SUDBURY ROCKS!! RUNNING CLUB

by Sheila Yaw-MacLean

I've registered The Sudbury Rocks!! Running Club team once again to participate in this year's CIBC Run For The Cure for Breast Cancer taking place Sunday October 5th. Let's help find a cure for breast cancer. Below are registration instructions to help you get started.
Thanks

August 20, 2008 Update: We have (6) members registered online so far. I would truly like to see many, many more. vince

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE RUN FOR THE CURE

Go to www.cibcrunforthecure.com

If you were registered on-line last year and can remember your user name and password, enter them and the forms will all be there are well as your team history. At the end, make sure you join team SUDBURY ROCKS RUNNING CLUB, or enter my name, SHEILA YAW-MACLEAN, as team captain.

To register from scratch:

Under “Register” Click "Join a Team"

Choose a site "Sudbury"

Click "Register"

Answer the series of questions, on the third page it will then ask for the team name

Enter SUDBURY ROCKS RUNNING CLUB or if you have trouble use my name as team captain SHEILA YAW-MACLEAN and our team should come up.

Do not pay the registration fee of $35. Check that you will raise the $150. You can do that on-line, in-person or in a combination of the two.

You will receive a “confirmation of registration” email that will have an attachment – your personalized sponsor sheet that you can print out and start collecting donations.

I will need to get your donation sheets by September 27th (latest). I will let you know drop off points.

Any donations that you have received on-line I will know about as I can access all the teams’ on-line totals.

I highly recommend sending emails to friends and family to get donations. There are tools to do that once you log in to your account and you never have to handle any money. It’s really easy.

Please call me if you have any questions. I’m at 692-9431 OR 522-9159.

Welcome to Team SUDBURY ROCKS RUNNING CLUB

Cheers,

Sheila

Run Club Update

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. It's hard not to be motivated to get out for some exercise after watching some of the AWESOME performances of our Canadian athletes in Beijing. If you haven't seen it yet, you owe it to yourself to watch Simon Whitfield hammer out one of the gutsiest races you will ever see in the men's triathlon.

A couple of important notices...
The Sudbury Masters will once again be presenting the Ramsey Lake Tour 1/2 marathon and 5km Run. If you are looking for a fun and challenging 1/2 marathon course - this is the race for you! There are FREE t-shirts to the first 200 participants, awards for every age category and tons of food afterward. This is one of my favourite races year in and year out - go to http://www.events.runningroom.com/site/?raceId=4013 for more details.

The 2009 Resolution Run is now online! Start the New Year off on the right foot by establishing or maintaining an active lifestyle. Go to http://www.events.runningroom.com/site/?raceId=3981 for more information.

Based on popular demand, the Running Room now offers stainless steel water bottles! These 750 ml bottles come with two different caps and will keep your drink nice and cold for hours.

If you're looking to finish your first 10k this fall - we've got the perfect group for you. Our 10k clinic is Thursday at 6pm - this includes great instruction, expert guest speakers, coupons for the store and a FREE t-shirt. Drop by this Thursday at 6 to check it out!
