Everyone is invited to join the Sudbury Rocks!! Running Club for our Annual Santa Hat Run. The event is an informal celebration of the season where members, friends and enthusiasts get together for a casual run through Sudbury neighbourhoods. We meet in the lobby of the Cambrian Fitness Centre on Lorne St. at 9:00 am and after the official Santa Hat photo, the group takes to the streets for runs of about 1/2 hour to 90 minutes. Coffee and sweets are served after the happy group have returned. All runners are welcome. Don't forget to bring your Santa hats or toques.

Run Club Update

Howdy All!!

Congratulations to all you hard working runners and walkers who are still bearing the cold weather and hitting the roads and building up the mileage! Although it’s freezing outside your local Running Room has some hot new items to ensure you are more comfortable during those chilly runs or walks! Check out the new toasty brown dryline clothing which can keep you stylish and warm right through the festive season.

We are also currently scouting for Running Room Clinic Instructors for many of the January clinics! If you have ever wanted to share your own personal knowledge or experiences regarding running or walking come by the Running Room and sign up to become a Clinic Instructor. Whether you are an experienced runner/walker or just starting up the Running Room will help you plan and organize a successful and fun clinic for all participants.

For all of you Secret Santas out there, our hours are now extended to accommodate all of your shopping needs! So this Saturday, December 15th we will be open from 9:30a.m. until 9:00p.m. and on Sunday, December 16th we are now open from 8:30a.m. until 8:00p.m. The Running Room elves have put together some very festive and essential stocking stuffer packages for all the runners/walkers on your Christmas list!

Product highlight:

Two of your favorite shoes are now at new lower prices! The Asics Cumulus is available at $109.99 and the Asics Nimbus is $159.99! What a steal!

Tip of the week:

So you went on a bit of a dessert binge last night at your staff Christmas party and now your feeling a little guilty.

The Answer – Get Speedy!!!!

The dessert didn’t offer the body any necessary nutrients to withstand a long slow run so lets try some speed work to work off those cookies and tarts.

Start off with a nice slow ten-minute jog to warm up.

Find a flat surface and speed up for about 30 seconds, six to eight times, with about a two-minute recovery jog between each interval.

Also end with a nice slow ten-minute jog to cool down

In less then an hour you could potentially burn about 700kcal! So don’t feel guilty when you splurge this holiday season just get SPEEDY!!!

Upcoming events:

The Resolution Run is fast approaching, and boy has it been popular this year! You can still register online at www.runningroom.com while extra small and extra extra small jackets are still available. This is always a fun event and proceeds are going to the YMCA. The event takes place December 31st at 5:00 p.m.
