Rock!! Wins at Harry's
by Robin (aka Jeremy's mom)
Thirteen yr. old
Jeremy Cooper,
Sudbury Rock Running Club member, just
returned from racing the 8km in Toronto at Harry's Spring
Run Off , April 7th in high Park. There were 2,300 registered
runners in the 8km and another 1,500 registered in the
5km. He raced in the 8km and placed 93rd, with a time
of 34:37. His time earned him a first place
standing in the boys14-under category. He received a
$100 gift certificate from New Balance as well as a
New Balance technical shirt.
|
He ran
a solid race but had to literally battle uphill for the
last km to the finish line. His next race is back in Toronto
at the Sporting Life 10km, on May 6th. It takes place right
down Younge street!!!! He'll have 10,000 runners to contend
with there!!
NOTE: Jeremy Cooper is
the nephew of Sudbury Rocks member Stephen Odjig,
who is heading to the Boston marathon!!! |

Rocks in
111th Boston 2007
For many years in a row, the
Sudbury Rocks!! Running Club has been represented in the world's
oldest annual marathon. It's longevity, traditions and method
of entry (via qualification) distinguish this Run as the pinnacle
distance event within the sport of road racing. It's considered
the "Big Show" of marathons and that's why many people
work hard to gain entry and return year after year. Rocks!! are
no exceptions and we will be well represented at the start line
in Hopkinton this coming Monday on April 16. Rocks!! entrants
are listed below in yellow. Another local, Mark Burgess, will
also toe the line. I believe Delahunty, Fessenden, Donnelly and
Ogdig are all first timers. Uuksulainen's an old hand at this
stuff and Burgess has been there before. No doubt they'll all
do well and the new 10:00 am start time will be a bonus. The long
wait until 12:00 pm was always tough on the nerves. Good luck
runners! We look forward to your success stories.
