Inspirational Running Quotes

In this darkest time of the winter when sunlight is sparse and the cold is creeping in to every part of your bones and psyches you just might need some motivation to put the shoes on and get out the door. I have searched the web and provided some inspirational running quotes to hopefully stoke your fires until the sun gets warm again.

  • "I will run just 5 minutes and if I truly hate it I can go home" You won't go home - Running Room
  • There is no such thing as bad weather, just soft people. - Bill Bowerman
  • To succeed you have to believe in something with such a passion that it becomes a reality. - Anita Roddick
  • This is where you will win the battle — in the playhouse of your mind. –Maxwell Maltz
  • The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare. - Juma Ikangaa, Tanzania
  • Anything worth while will not come easy. - Vince Perdue...and many others I suppose
  • Man imposes his own limitations, don’t set any -Anthony Bailey
  • Having a true faith is the most difficult thing in the world. Many will try to take it from you. - Steve Prefontaine
  • Those who say that I will lose and am finished will have to run over my body to beat me. - Said Aouita
  • It is a paradox to say the human body has no limit. There must be a limit to the speed at which men can run. I feel this may be around 3:30 for the mile. However, another paradox remains - if an athlete manages to run 3:30, another runner could be found to marginally improve on that time. - Sir Roger Bannister
  • Marathoning is like cutting yourself unexpectedly. You dip into the pain so gradually that the damage is done before you are aware of it. Unfortunately, when the awareness comes, it is excruciating. - John Farrington, Australian marathoner
  • "Most people run a race to see who is fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts." Steve Prefontaine
  • "Tough times don't last but tough people do." A.C. Green
  • "Pressure is nothing more than the shadow of great opportunity." Michael Johnson
  • "I cannot have survival as my only goal. That would be too boring. My goal is to come back in my best running form. It is good for me to have that goal; it will help me."
Ludmila Engquist (Olympic champion hurdler facing cancer and chemotherapy)
  • "What matters is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight - it's the size of the fight in the dog."
    Dwight D. Eisenhower
  • "There are No Excuses" - Vince Perdue...and many others
  • "Just do it" - Nike ad
Now lace up those shoes and go out and run... for just 5 minutes!

Run Club Update

The Running Room Club Update: January 17, 2007
Sudbury Store (Cedar Pointe Plaza)

Hi Everybody!

My Goodness! Did that mercury ever drop fast! With that in mind, please make sure you are dressed appropriately, including warm layers, BodyGlide covering any exposed skin, and YakTrax if necessary. Other than that, slow your pace down and take smaller steps to remain safe on the icy sidewalks. Give us a call or drop into the store for more winter running information.

Some great shoe updates have come in this week, all by Mizuno. The Wave Rider 10, Elixer 2, and Inspire 3. Just in time to replace those shoes for the half- and full-marathon clinics!

The Hypothermic Half Countdown to February 4th is on! Only 18 days left to sign up for some fun, frivolity and frolic - and we're half sold out!! Come on out and join us for some playing in the snow! If you are available to volunteer for this event, we could use the help. Please let us know if you are available to give us a hand.

NEW CLINICS STARTING NEXT WEEK:

1/2 WALK - Thursday January 25 @ 6:00pm

1/2 RUN - Thursday January 25 @ 6:30pm

FULL RUN - Tuesday January 23 @ 6:30pm

WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN INSTRUCTOR FOR THE FULL MARATHON. Instructors do get paid, and receive a generous discount for the Running Room. Please let us know if you, or someone you know might be interested.

Sunday Schedule

LTR (Tracy) - 1:1 x 10

FWO (Jo) - 1:1 x 10

5K (Cory) - 7:1x3

10K (Mike) - 6k
