Rocks!! Run in Honolulu
Marathon
So Does Shawn Brady
- Track North Alumnus
Rocks!! members,
Will Tai and Tawnecia Sauve, experienced the warmth and welcome
of Hawaii when they ran Honolulu Marathon this weekend. Both
ran conservatively and strong and I assume are very positive
about their experiences.
Shawn Brady, former
Track North member, also ran strong but somewhat less conservatively
as he ended up 12th overall with a finishing time of 2:31:07.
I imagine Dick Moss will take some of the credit for Shawn's
speed training in an earlier life.

North News - by Dick
Moss |
Thursday, December 07, 2006
Hey everybody. With Xmas almost upon us, it's
a great time to catch up on old friends and fellow Track
North athletes.
There's a website called "Facebook"
that's ideal of this purpose. Originally just for university
students, it has now been opened to everybody. Be sure to
join up - it's the ideal way to see who is where and doing
what.
You can contact each other by posting messages right on
the website, or by private emails. You can add your own
photos and check out the photos of your running colleagues.
It's a great way to stay up-to-date with everyone.
Best of all, Track North has it's own "Group,"
inhabited by current and alumni TNOR athletes (18 members
and counting, all the way back to Kevin Pierobon and Shawn
Brady up to the present. Bill Thompson has even begun the
registration process).
How to Register
Log in to Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com
If you click on the "Help" link
(top right) on this page, you'll get a description of all
the functions, and how to register. Or just hit the register
button and follow the instructions.
For network, just join "Sudbury, ON"
Don't worry about a photo and all the profile
information unless you want to. You can add this information
later, or not at all.
Once registered, go to "My Groups"
on the left side menu bar, and enter "Track North."
Then join the group.
I hope to hear from you soon. If you have any questions,
just email me.
Cheers, Dick

Timberman
Triathlon Road Trip - Update
Hey Folks,
I wanted to update you on our Discomfort
Zone Timberman Road Trip. If you haven't heard about this
yet, we are organizing a trip out to the Timberman Triathlon
Festival in Gilford New Hampshire in August 2007. This
is one of the biggest triathlon events in North America,
and bigger than anything we have here in Ontario. It is
also meant to be one heck of a good time, with Crab Bakes,
Lobster Fests and other treats of New England. It's a
great race, a great festival and a great place to bring
the family. Visit www.timbermantri.com for more info.
Here's the latest news on our end:
Ironman 70.3 race 85% Full:
The "Main Event" of the weekend
is the Ironman 70.3 race (Half Ironman) on Sunday. Registration
opened on Nov 1 and more than 1500 of the 1800 spots are
gone. 10-15 of those spots have been taken by Discomfort
Zone athletes and other Sudbury area locals. If you think
you are ready to tackle the 70.3 distance in 2007(see
below), you will want to be at this event. So register
now before it fills!
Sprint Distance and Kids Races also
available:
Not quite ready for the 70.3 distance? Join
our growing group of Sprint distance athletes who are
making the trip as well. The more, the merrier! The Sprint
goes on Saturday morning, so the 70.3 athletes will be
able to cheer you on and vice versa. Also, a number of
our group are planning to bring their kids and enter them
in the Kids triathlon on Saturday afternoon. Fun for everyone!
Looking for Accommodation? Join
us at the Discomfort Zone race Headquarters!
If you have browsed the website, you have
seen that there are lots of options for accommodation,
including hotels, condo's, cabins, B&B's and even
trailer parks and camping. Our group will be headquartered
at the B. Maes Resort Inn and Suites (2 miles from start),
where there are condos with full kitchens, hotel rooms,
and great amenities including both indoor and outdoor
pools, Jacuzzi and a gym. For more info, call 603-293-7526,
or visit www.Bmaesresort.com .
2 additional notes here:
1) Not many condos are left so if you are
looking for a place with a kitchen, call soon!
2) A couple of us have booked condos and
have room for more athletes (2 spots per condo available).
If you are looking to share, drop me a line.
Looking for a coach?
If you think you might be interested in
a personal coach to help you reach your goals next season,
drop me a line. I have coached beginner and experienced
athletes to personal bests and age-group awards at distances
ranging from Sprint to Ironman. I am accepting 2-3 more
athletes for the 2007 season, and would love to talk to
you about your goals and find the best way to help you
reach them. You can reach me at dzmike@gmail.com.
Live your dreams!
