Hi LU Runners, Friends and Alumni
Here are the Laurentian results from the 2005
CIS Championships in Halfax. Every LU athlete
ran a huge season's best and most ran all-time PB's. Even
Leila, who was not feeling well, ran close to her all-time
best and was 49 seconds faster than at OUA's. Check out
the individual times - we've never had so many athletes
run so fast in a single race!
Also in the race were Liz Forbes, whose 20th place finish
(3rd team) helped the U. of Guelph to a first place overall
finish!.
Also, alumni Nat Lefort, running for Laval, placed 97th
with a 19:34.

CIS Cross-Country Championships, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Laurentian University's women's cross-country running team
finished their season on a high note, placing 13th this
weekend at the National Championships in Halifax.
As they did at the OUA Championships two weeks ago, each
member of the Lady Vees ran their season's best, including
by a 57-second improvement by Capreol's Lindsy McNicoll,
who dropped beneath 19 minutes for the first time and was
the second Laurentian scorer.
"The 13th place was what we predicted," said assistant
coach, Darren Jermyn. "Our individual times were unbelievably
fast. For example, our average time for the course was 19:01,
with three girls under 19 minutes and three more under 20
minutes. That's definitely a school record."
"It was a fun course," said second year runner,
Kirsti Dolson. "The footing was tricky, with lots of
roots and rocks, but the final kilometre was mainly downhill,
so the times were fast."
"This squad competes extremely well under pressure,"
said head coach, Dick Moss. "And they're very young
- we only lose one runner next year (Melanie Muise), and
most of the team will be around for at least two more years.
Next Fall, we're definitely shooting for top-ten."
