Well, the great October baby race has come
to an end, with Brenda Beavers unleashing one of her tremendous
patented finishing kicks and delivering twins. Here are
the details, but Brenda now has a complete 4 x 800m team!
Congrats Brenda!!
The twins have arrived. I had them
5 weeks early by C section on 10/14/05. They are in the
neonatal ICU for observation and growing time as they put
it. Should be home with me soon. We named them Benjamin
Michael 4 LBS 5 oz and Spencer William 5 lbs, 2 oz. Identical
twin boys! Len nick named Ben "shark bite" because
he has a slight notch on his right ear that helps us tell
them apart. We are all doing well and are looking forward
to taking to boys home soon. Brenda

OUA XC Running
Championships - Kingston ON, October 29, 2005
Strong team running helped a gutsy Laurentian Women's Cross-Country
Running Team post a sixth-place finish at the Ontario University
Championships this weekend. Contested on Kingston's picturesque
Fort Henry field, it was Laurentian's second-best finish
in school history and an improvement over last year's ninth-place
position.
Having suffered a slew of pre-season injuries, Laurentian
was a dark horse in the 15-team championship-four of the
squads they beat had finished ahead of them in previous
races, including York, ranked top-ten in the country coming
into the event.
"The girls did a great job of helping each other during
the race," said head coach, Dick Moss. "And all
seven runners posted a personal best for the course. Lindsy
McNicoll, for example, was almost a minute faster than she
was here only two weeks ago.
"It has been a difficult season, because of injuries
and illnesses, and some of the girls have raced sparingly,"
said Moss. " For example, it was only the second race
of the year for Leila Angrand. She was rusty, but she'll
improve quickly once she back into a regular program."
Laurentian will compete in the CIS Championships in Halifax
in two weeks.
Points of Interest:
* In basketball
terms, this finish would be akin to a bronze medal in the
OUA East division.
* Pre-Season
goal for the Voyageurs was 6th in the OUA.
* Laurentian
placed 9th in the OUA last year and 13th in the CIS Championships.
