Adam Hill Runs 50 Miler in Virginia

Adam Hill runs with the Rocks!! on occasion as well as with the Running Room Run Club members. He's our true distance champion as, while we do marathons, he has been diligently training to complete a 50 mile event. And he succeeded in that endeavour this weekend when he raced in the Virginia Happy Trails Running Clubs "Bull Run" Run 50 Miler. Adam, a young man of few words, describes the event below.

Hi Vince, I have just got got back to Sudbury after a long day of driving from Virginia. The Bull Run 50 miler was unbelievable. It was a sunny 80 degrees muddy, 5600 feet worth of climbing, and a lot of fun. I finished 12th with a time of 7:44:51, I was really happy with that considering I have yet to do any speed work yet and the legs don't quite have all the endurance they need yet. The web site is vhtrc.org if you are interested.

Maureen and Louis Moustgaard Travel to Washington to Compete in 8Km Roadrace

by Maureen Moustgaard

Hi everybody,
This past weekend Louis and I did our yearly visit to the Washington area to visit our daughter. We have been there at different times of the year so this year we thought we would go in April as this is the time of the Cherry Blossom Festival. We could not have picked a better weekend. We saw blossoms galore and nothing but blue skies and sunshine.

Part of the itinerary of these trips is to find a FUN RUN! Louis found one in a magazine that was an 8km and 5km whose goal was to raise $ for child sexual abuse. The temperature at start time was 50 degrees which for some of the people was cool but Louis and I found it quite nice. There were marshals and police everywhere. No cars were getting on this route.

As far as participation it was a very young crowd which Jennifer verified later from the website.Would you believe I was the 3rd oldest female and Louis was the 8th oldest male?

For the second weekend in a row I was 3rd out of three.Last weekend was the swim meet in Sault Ste. Marie and this weekend I was third in the 8k run. Maybe this weekend I should do an event with my bicycle.NOT! It doesn't even have air in the tires .I think my equipment manager is on strike!

All in all it was a great run and we were both satisfied with our times especially the old guy as he didn't think he would break 45 minutes. And Vince at the end there were cookies and fruit and cookies and drinks.Loui's told me about the cookies but there were none left when I got there .I think Louis ate them all .I guess if I had run 10 seconds faster i could have stolen one from him
It was all lots fun!
Maureen

The Ed Whitlock (Canada) and Joop Ruter (Netherlands) Challenge - to be the fastest man to run a marathon in the +70 age group went off this month in Rotterdam Netherlands. As you can see Ed was victorious with another sub 3 hour effort. This dude is an excellent inspiration for anyone approaching the Masters and Grand Masters age groups.
