The "Sun Run" was a snowy success

"190 Finishers... That's the same as last year in the sunshine" stated a much relieved race director, Mike Coughlin.

Mike had reason to be concerned as the day broke cold, windy and raining. The snow soon followed with a further decrease in temperatures. I know Mike was thinking; Will anyone actually show for the run?

Show they did and with all the enthusiasm only avid athletes can muster. All ages were covered from under 6 years old in the 2k to 60+ in the other events.

They came to run and run they did....but I did notice a lot of extra huddle time by most in the registration clubroom as it was the only heated space available.

All events were well attended this year and even the normally sparsely attended 21.1k drew 20 hardy souls.

Though old man winter tried to put a crimp on things, ALL PARTICIPANTS FINISHED and most with a smile on their face...that sense of a really good accomplishment. Click here for a detailed review of all the finishing times.

Congratulation Runners!!

Now I know the runs are all about the runners. Without the participants, there would not be an event. But you runners should definitely understand what is happening all around you to ensure the success of the outing. They are the unsung heroes of the day. Let's give a great big THANK YOU to all those volunteers who also braved the cold and snow giving their time so you would have a good one. Their names are listed below. We may have missed a few and there may be spelling errors. Mike and I apologize for those.

Our Tennessee "Rock!!" smokes the Dogwood 5k

...and has fond Boston memories

Karen Beaulieu writes:
Oh yeah I'm smoking
ok here's my strategy ... run a marathon with your best ,most fun running
partner , come back home and smoke my rivals with a 20:29 5k. I'm too sexy
for my running shoes! That would be the Dogwood Classic 5k held Sat. 01.
In case you guys didn't notice I'm happy with the time. I'm ready to run
up against Trevor again. Just joking with you Trev..... I was in such a
rush to finish the race and get back home to take the kids to soccer that I
did not even notice the time I finished .I have just looked it up today
(Mon. morning) and rushed to tell you guys. I wanted to speak to you on the
phone but Steve is in a dispute with the phone company ,they have
overcharged , so until this is cleared we are without long distance
service. (do you hear that Monique)

Back to Boston.... Thank you Monique for running with me and having so
much fun , ok I had more fun, it was so great to see Stephanie(who does a
great corpse imitation), John(who is hilarious), Martin(my fellow tattoo
homey)and Ann(e). You guys made the trip so much more memorable.
Unfortunately Monique did not agree to my grabbing her by the hand and
dragging her across the finish line, I think she was still bitter about the
fact that the finish line was not exactly right there around the corner.
You save that juice for the firecracker when we meet again. The ;weather
was so hot but thank god for all those hoses out there . I had a blast.
Hopefully we can all have a reunion down there sometime in the future....
I have to save the biggest thank you for Steve as he sent me there even
though 5 days cut into his work schedule. You guys are the best....
A final note to Monique I got my Boston pictures today and you are in a
couple(proofs) but you're not smiling girl .... they must have taken those
pictures after we came around the corner and you still had to run further
to finish line ...you're the best!
My next race is the Panther Creek 10k trail . I'll keep you posted

Happy
trails everyone Keep up the great work Jan& Sheila

can you look at my Boston pics Monique if I give you my bib# 11224
see ya K
